Refresher Courses for Diasporan Teachers to Be Organized in Yerevan

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–After a ten-year interval refresher courses for school-teachers from the Armenian Diaspora will be organized in Yerevan again–Head of the Department for Diasporan Affairs–Ministry of Education and Science–Yuri Navoyan told Noyan Tapan. He said that the refresher courses will be conducted at three levels: for teachers of pre-school institutions–teachers of primary and high schools. Programs embracing the subjects taught in each of the three types of educational establishmen’s will be developed for each group of teachers.

The courses will be held in summer–and each group of teachers will spend a month in Armenia. The courses will be conducted by specialists from Armenia and the Diaspora–the organizational matters to be dealt with by the "Diaspora" research-educational center–Armenian Teachers’ Training Institute–headed by Souren Danielian. Navoyan said that applications for the participation in the courses have already been received.

The refresher courses program has been submitted to the All-Armenian "Hayastan" Fund for financing and will be discussed by the Board of Trustees of the Fund in April. The program is intended for the "typical Diaspora." As to teachers of Armenian-language schools in the CIS member-countries–Navoyan said that this problem is within the competence of the Center of Educational Reforms–as the syllabi of these schools correspond to those of Armenia’s schools.
