YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Prime Minister Aram Sargsyan met with the Head of the European Commission’s Delegation to Armenia–Ambassador Elio Jermano Tuesday to discuss prospects of Armenia-EU relations and issues related to the realization of TACIS projects. The European Commission’s representative said that the Commission’s office has been operating in Yerevan since last November and its work will promote further cooperation. Jermano announced his intention to meet with all leaders involved in coordination in all spheres where program cooperation is planned. A separate program envisages adjustment of Armenia’s legislation to that of the EU. This program may be developed on the interdepartmental level.
Thanking the EU for its current assistance and readiness to extend help–Prime Minister Aram Sargsyan expressed his positive attitude to cooperation within the framework of the European Commission. He referred to the importance of the realization of regional programs in this regard. The premier also underlined that European standards and laws have been brought to a high degree of perfection and that is why the harmonization of Armenia’s legislation according to the EU pattern is fully justified.
