Union Proposes to Set Up All Armenia Parliament

YEREVAN (Armenpress)–Chairman of a minor party called Armenia-Diaspora Union Hrach Ter-Yesayan proposed to set up an all Armenian parliament. He called on President Kocharian and parliament members to adopt a new constitution and laws which will create favorable conditions for the country’s development. Special attention must be paid to Armenian Diaspora–he said to February 9 news conference.

The Armenia-Diaspora Conference held last autumn in Yerevan laid grounds for unification of all Armenia’s–irrespective of their place of residence. For successful realization of all Armenian tasks an organization entitled with all necessary authorities is needed–he said.

The party leaders called on all Armenia’s to form the Diaspora-Armenia parliament through holding elections. The new parliament is seen as the highest national organ that will be entitled to speak out on behalf of all Armenia’s–to work out and adopt an all nation program.

Armenia’s president–Armenian parliament members and also representatives of all parties not represented in the parliament–head of Armenian Church and representatives from each Armenian community in Diaspora will make up the new parliament.

The priority task of the parliament will be establishment of all Armenian bank where each Armenian must invest 1% of his or her annual income–creation of all Armenian Internet network–all Armenian satellite television–information center and newspaper.
