YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Armenia’s Defense Minister Vagharshak Haroutiunian was on an official visit to Belarus from February 8-10.
As part of the visit–Armenia’s defense minister met with Belarus’ Security Council Secretary–Aide to the Belarus President on National Security Issues Victor Sheiman to discuss issues of international and regional security as well as prospects of relations between Armenia and Belarus.
The delegations of the two countries’ defense ministries led by Haroutiunian and Alexander Chumakov respectively held negotiations regarding military and technical-military cooperation. The parties discussed and coordinated issues of practical realization of the main provisions of the Armenia-Belarus program of military and military-technical cooperation.
The appointment of Belarus’s military attache after the opening of Belarus’s Embassy in Armenia was also among the issues discussed. The Armenian delegation also visited enterprises of the military and industrial complex of Belarus as well as military units of the Armed Forces and the Military Academy of the country.
The Security Council of Belarus awarded an honorary order to Haroutiunian for his significant contribution to the development of Armenian-Belarus relations.
