Ghoukassian Willing to Cooperate With Winner

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)-Parliamentary elections are to be held in the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic this summer. The two political parties–the ARF Dashnaktsutiun and the Communist Party–that were active last year have been joined by others.

The "Armenakan" right centrist party’s (chairman Boris Aroushanian) main goal is Karabakh’s independence–development of cooperation with Armenia–and social and economic development.

The Chairman of another centrist party–the Christian-Democratic Party–Karen Ohanjanian said that the party was formed for the purpose of reaching a balance of forces and ideas in the country’s domestic political life.

The slogan of the Social Democratic Party (chairman Arkady Soghomonian) is "Freedom–Justice–Accord." The primary task of the party is the establishment of democratic institutions based on the principle of social justice–and the development of social sphere–public health and education. The ultimate aim of the party is the unification of Karabakh and Armenia.

The activities of the Armenian National Democratic Party (chairman Murad Petrossian) are based on national and democratic ideals. The party will struggle for the establishment of a democratic government system and rule of law in the country.

President Arkady Ghoukassian expressed willingness to cooperate with any political party that wins the elections. He expressed optimism that the future Nagorno-Karabakh Parliament will reflect the entire spectrum of the country’s political forces.
