Expo 2000 Celebrates Armenian Culture

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Expo 2000–the international cultural gala is a celebration of history and rich culture. The Armenian Secretary of Commerce–and the driving force behind the organization of Expo 2000–Garen Jshmaridyan travelled to Hannover–Germany to participate in the festival.

The Armenian entry which was built on a 300 square meter area–is a model of Noah’s Ark. The spectators praised the Armenian exhibits. The German government spent close to 4 million marks on organizing the exhibition. Over 180 nations participated–among them Armenia. Armenia’s exhibit cost close to 120,000 marks–the German government helped finance the Armenian exhibit with a gift of 4,000 marks. Garen Aghamian who was in charge of the Armenian entry for Expo 2000 stated that the festival is a good representation of the end of the 20th century with all the world’s nations coming together to celebrate diverse cultures and traditions. Its an excellent way to pave the road for the coming of the 21st century.
