“Armenians for Nader” Committeee Formed

* Grassroots group seeks to educate community about alternatives to "Republocrats."

BURBANK–Armenia’s for Nader (AFN) has formed after discussions among a diverse group of Armenia’s interested in best serving the interests of the community in the US and also Armenia.

The creation of the grassroots network was fueled by widespread dissatisfaction among Armenia’s over the indifferent–often hostile–positions of both major party candidates and their running mates on Armenian issues.

Word of the group’s founding has already drawn interest from Armenia’s across the nation who increasingly realize that–behind the campaign rhetoric–the fundamental reality remains that the major candidates first and foremost represent the corporate oil–arms–and trade interests that are inimical to Armenia and Armenia’s.

Ralph Nader–Green Party candidate for President of the United States stands strongest on these core issues. Referring to the corporate takeover of Washington–DC–he remarked during his nomination speech in Colorado that–"The autocratic system of government puts trade over everything else."

"I think Ralph Nader has already powerfully defined the issues in this campaign and has had influence on the positions of both major party candidates," observed Professor Ben H. Bagdikian of UC Berkeley–author of The Media Monopoly–and a founding member of Armenia’s for Nader (AFN).

Armenia’s for Nader ask Armenia’s: What do these four things have in common?

1. Oil lobbyists supporting Azerbaijan against Armenia–

2. Arms manufacturers–currying favor with Turkey–pushing to kill Armenian Genocide resolutions in Congress–

3. Microsoft trying to question the Genocide in its Encarta on-line encyclopedia–and

4. Armenian and other American citizens feeling politically powerless.

According to Garen Yegparian–AFN organizer–the answer is "Corporate greed. Between now and the November election–we hope to explain to our community how the heartless trade policies of the ruling Republican/Democrat (Republocrat) duopoly not only make their daily lives more difficult–but also seriously damage core Armenian concerns."

AFN plans to provide information to the community through the Armenian media and the net–organize local functions in Armenian communities–and integrate the efforts of progressive Armenia’s from coast to coast–especially campus activists.
