Master Classes International Sponsors Two Outstanding Armenian Pianists

Lusine Khachatryan of Germany and Shushanik Hovakimian of Armenia were invited to study with world renown faculty at the International Piano Symposium of the Master Classes International. The Symposium–dedicated this year to J.S. Bach–took place on the campus of the Pepperdine University in beautiful Malibu. 11 outstanding pianists from all over the world came to spend a week of intensive studies with five of the most renown concert artists and Bach experts in the field. They were: Bronislawa Kawalla of the Chopin Academy of Poland; Kalle Randalu of Germany; Natalia Troull of Moscow Conservatory; Nikita Juzhanin of Finland; and Laurette Goldberg of San Francisco.

There were groups of Japanese–Chinese–and American students and teachers who came to audit the lessons and the Master Classes. There were Concerts every evening by each of the faculty culminating with a closing concert of the performing students. As an auditor and Vice President I felt very proud that the leadership of an organization of such magnitude has a strong Armenian presence.
