Bears Destroy Farms in Vayots Dzor

YEREVAN (Armenpress)–Local authorities in the Armenian province of Vayots Dzor have appealed to the nature protection ministry–requesting help against the invasion of brown bears that have been causing damages to local farms.

According to nature protection ministry–as a result of a severe drought that hit the country during the summer–there is a strong shortage of food for many wild animals in the forests. The hunger drives them to seek food near the rural settlemen’s.

The brown bears are registered in the Armenian Red Book and the experts are strongly against killing these bears.
