YEREVAN (Armenpress)–Armenian border security prevented Iranian professors and students entry into Armenia without any logical reasons–Groong reported quoting the Tehran Times.

The Geography Faculty of Tarbiat-Modarres University left Tehran for a scientific visit to Armenia on September 13. They were refused entry although they had all the documen’s needed for the trip. The 10 professors and students issued a statement–in which they criticized the improper conduct of the Armenian border police.

They contacted Iran’s Foreign Ministry and other relevant bodies to ensure the rights of the Iranian citizens and to take measures to preserve Iran’s dignity in its relations with other countries. An official at the Armenian Embassy in Tehran’said the staff of the embassy did their best to resolve the problem–but their efforts were not successful.

The Armenian diplomat also said that the embassy apologized to the students and professors and reimbursed them for the expenses they had incurred. The official added that the Armenian ambassador will explain the case to the Foreign Ministry.
