Book On Armenian Birds Published

YEREVAN (Armenpress)–The presentation ceremony of a book entitled "Filed Guide to Armenian Birds"–published by the American University of Armenia–was held on October 17.

The book was written by Martin Adamian–a senior expert at the Armenian Zoology Institute and professor Daniel Klem from the Muhlenberg University. It was published under the sponsorship of a US-Armenian philanthropist Sargis Hakobian.

The book contains valuable information on 364 different species of birds that populate Armenia–including the 4th century records by medieval Armenian philosopher Barsegh Kesaretsi. The same authors issued two books on Armenian birds in 1997 and 1999 in English.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony Martin Adamian and the chairman of the American University of Armenia Harutiun Armenian emphasized the importance of the book–underlining that it will help raise the public’s ecological awareness.

The book contains colored pictures–new Armenian terminology regarding the birds names and a specialized vocabulary.
