Russian Delegation Arrives in Yerevan

YEREVAN (Armenpress)–A 200-member Russian delegation composed of parliament members–deputy parliament speaker Arthur Chilingarov–state secretary of Russia-Belarus Union Pavel Borodin–well-known politologist Andranik Mihranian and artists arrived in Yerevan on November 3.

On the same day–a protocol on cooperation was signed between Armenia’s education and science ministry and the Union of Russian Armenia’s. The protocol calls for a joint elaboration of educational programs and support for Armenian schools in Russia.

President Robert Kocharian met with the members of the Russian delegation–and awarded Chilingarov the Anania Shirakatsi medal for his contributions to the strengthening and development of Armenian-Russian friendship.

The head of the Union Ara Abrahamian said that the its main goal is to bring together Armenia’s in Russia and promote the two nations’ relations. He said the Union of Russia is preparing a wide range of events to mark the 1700th anniversary of Christianity adoption by Armenia’s to be marked in 2001.
