Charges Brought Against Arkady Vardanian

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–President of the 21st century international association Arkady Vardanian has been charged with making appeals to overthrow or change the state or public order in the Republic of Armenia (Article 65 of the Criminal Code)–Vardanian’s lawyer Samvel Janigian told Noyan Tapan. He stated that his client does not understand the point of the charge. Part two of the article–recurrent or organized appeal for overthrowing the public or state order in the country–on which the charge is based–stipulates imprisonment up to seven years or a fine equal to 40-60 minimal wages.

According to the lawyer–the preliminary investigation body requested the court to select arrest as a measure of restriction against Arkady Vardanian.
