Archbishop Mutafian Urges Turkish Authorities to Lift Visa Regime With Armenia

YEREVAN (Armenpress)–The Turkish foreign ministry has prepared a special program to counterattack Armenian activities aimed at international recognition of the 1915 genocide committed by the Turkish government.

Accordingly–an Armenian-Turkish conference of historians is to be convened to discuss the issue and try to find out ways for its regulation. The Turkish authorities also plan to improve the conditions of the Armenian community of Turkey–since they supported Ankara’s efforts in opposing the genocide recognition.

The Turkish Milliyet daily wrote–the authorities turned to the head of the Turkish Diocese of the Armenian Church Archbishop Mutafian for help. The Patriarch is said to have requested the lifting of the current visa restrictions imposed on Armenia and the regulation of Turkish-Armenian relations.
