New Armenian Silver Coins Issued

YEREVAN (Armenpress)–The Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia issued a silver coin with the face value of 2000 drams (about 3.62 US dollars) to commemorate the new millennium and the 1700th anniversary of the adoption of Christianity by Armenia’s. Thirty thousand coins are supposed to be put in circulation. The reverse side of the silver coin depicts the Armenian state coat of arms. The obverse depicts St. George the Savior–who symbolizes the struggle against evil and tyranny. New Millennium is inscribed in Armenian along the edge of the coin and Millennium Coin Collection in English.
