Yerevan (Snark)–Armenian President Robert Kocharian and Georgian President Eduard Shevardnadze had a bilateral meeting December 1st. According to an Armenian TV report–Eduard Shevardnadze thanked Robert Kocharian for Armenia’s support on the issue of power supplies at such a difficult time for the Georgian people.
Spartak Akopyan–chief engineer of the Armenergo Armenian energy state close-type joint-stock company–told Snark that Armenia was supplying 2.5m kWh of power to the Georgian energy network every day. In accordance with a contract–the supplies resumed on October 23rd and will continue until December15th. Akopyan expressed confidence that Armenian electricity would be exported to Georgia after that date as well. The US company AES-Telasi remains the main buyer of electric energy–although there is also a contract with the high voltage lines of Georgia.
