Prime Minister Markarian in Shanghai

YEREVAN (Armenpress)–Armenian Prime Minister Andranik Markarian and his delegation travelled to the city of Shanghai from the capital Beijing Wednesday December 6 as part of their official visit to China. Shanghai– with its architectural marvels–size–and huge population–is considered the heart of China.

The delegation visited the Chinese Museum of History and met with the mayor. Markarian conveyed to the mayor the Armenian government’s high regard for input from other countries–and noted the importance of building upon the existing friendship between Armenia and China. The Prime Minister also expressed Armenia’s interest in the exportation of industrial rubber from China. Markarian also noted the potential cooperation in the banking sector–adding that Armenia has the most liberal banking industry within the CIS.

The mayor described the experiences the Chinese are undergoing in their transition from a command and planned economy to a free market. After their meeting–Markarian continued touring factories and other industrial centers.
