PLOVDIV–The 110th anniversary of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation and the 99th anniversary of Bedros Seremjian’s death were observed December 9 at the St. Kevork Church in Plovdiv–Bulgaria.
The event was attended by Armenian ambassador to Bulgaria Sevda Sevan–Armenian Consul to Plovdiv Arthur Madoyan–Chairman of the Macedonian Revolutionary Association youth group Stephan Poslyskin–Plovdiv city officials and various other figures.
Master of ceremonies Serop Yozgatlian presented Hamazkayin Chairman–and chief editor of "Vahan Weekly," Harry Nigoghosian–who congratulated the ARF on its anniversary and remembered Bedros Seremjian’s heroic struggles in the liberation movemen’s of Armenia and Bulgaria. Also remembered were the ARF members who died fighting in Artsakh.
A monument dedicated to Seremjian was officially unveiled by Homenetmen Representative Dikran Bardizbanian. Reverend Father Daniel Karajian performed a requiem service in memory of Bedros Seremjian and a moment of silence was held for all who have been martyred.
Other speakers included Ambassador Sevan–Stephan Poslyskin–and Chairman of the Plovdiv Mekhitarian Alumni Association Zohrab Alikian. Ambassador Sevan praised the ARF for its role in the preservation of the Armenian identity. A poem written by Chairman Alikian in memory of Bedros Seremejian and other Armenian heroes was read.
Bedros Seremjian’s famous revolutionary song "Verkerov Li" was sung by the attendees. All major organizations and officials placed floral wreathes on Seremjian’s monument. A cocktail was held after the ceremony–where gifts commemorating the 110th anniversary of the ARF were distributed.
