YEREVAN (Armenpress)–His Holines Karekin II–Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenia’s presided over a meeting –of the Diocesan Primates and Regional Governors of Armenia–held at the Mother See of Holy Echmiadzin. His Holiness presented to the meeting participants the ecclesiastical programs of jubilee festivities dedicated to the 1700th Anniversary of Proclamation of Christianity as the State Religion of Armenia.

Similar meetings of the Diocesan Primates and Regional Governors of Armenia at Holy Echmiadzin on the Eve of the New Year are already a tradition. Nearly one year ago–by the joint efforts of the Primates and the statesmen–the festivities on the occasion of New Year and Holy Christmas were elaborated and successfully realized..

This year the Mother See of Holy Echmiadzin has come forward with the initiative "New Year to the Armenian Children". It is planned to organize festive programs in all regions of Armenia. In the course of the meeting the Primates and Regional Governors discussed issues relating to the organization of the festive programs–so that they should become more interesting and attractive for the children

The goal is to make New Year and Holy Christmas joyful and remarkable for the children–especially when the coming year has special significance for all of Armenia. In order to bring the programs to realization–the Mother See has allocated a certain sum for each region and Yerevan. In a step towards that goal–upon the mediation of the Eastern Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church of the USA–American Armenian benefactors–Mr. and Mrs. Harold Gulamerians–have allocated $100,000 to the Mother See of Holy Echmiadzin. Additional means from other benefactors are also expected.
