Armenian Genocide Monument Erected in Assen

YEREVAN (Armenpress)–An opening ceremony for a new Armenian Genocide Monument was held in the city of Assen–Netherlands on April 24.

According to the Foreign Affairs Ministry Public Relations Department–the ceremony was organized by different cultural unions of the Dutch-Armenian community. This is the first monument devoted to the victims of the Genocide in Netherlands.

The Armenian Mission Ambassador in the European Union–the representative of the Armenian Embassy–representatives of the Russian Orthodox Church in Netherlands–and Dutch political and public organizations took part in the ceremony.

The ceremony was concluded with a statement from the Dutch-Armenian community directed to the government and parliament of the Netherlands–demanding the recognition of the Armenian Genocide.
