YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–The Azeri opposition has been encouraging Turkey to take a more active role in the Karabakh peace process. Turkish State Minister Ramazan Mirzaoglu received a delegation of the Azeri Musavat opposition party on May 16 in Ankara. Isa Ghambar–president of the Musavat party–stated that Turkey and Azerbaijan are two states belonging to one people. He went on by asking Turkey to help Azerbaijan in "liberating" the "occupied territories" and in the relocation of refugees to these regions.
Mizaoglu replied that Turkey would like to see the Karabakh conflict resolved through negotiations and discussions. According to Ghambar–Azerbaijan faces numerous problems–however–its main worry is the "liberation of the occupied territories." He affirmed Azerbaijan’s desire for a more active Turkish role regarding this issue.
