YEREVAN (Armenpress)–"Jewelry development not only resolves the problem of creating new jobs but also secures compatible production for export," Armenia’s Prime Minister Andranik Margarian told reporters during the opening of the Jewelry-2001 international fair-exhibition that opened yesterday in Yerevan.
The prime minister said he was left with very positive impressions from the exhibition–which inspires hopes that "we have maintained not only what we had but have also developed." Margarian said that a large amount of raw diamonds–received this year from Russia–will give a new boost to jewelry development.
In terms of export–Russia and other CIS countries remain Armenia’s main market. Among other 700 kinds of Armenia-made products which are exported–jewelry items continue to maintain a stable place.
Margarian expressed hope that the exhibition would give a new boost to resolving sale-related problems.
