TEHRAN–President Mohammed Khatami of the Islamic Republic of Iran visited the "Alik" Newspaper’s display at the 8th annual exhibition of the Iranian press–which was held on May 17. Khatami visited only a few of the displays in the second hall of the exhibit–which contained Iran’s most influential newspapers.
Close to 570 newspapers participated in the exhibit’s opening–which was held on May 8. "Alik" was one of the 21 newspapers selected to hold a display in the exhibition.
Vartan Davtian–who arranged the display–presented an overview of the newspaper’s 70-year-long activities to the Iranian president. Davtian mentioned how "Alik" serves not only the Armenian community of Iran–but also subscribers in 40 countries. The Internet has allowed the newspaper to reach even more readers around the world.
President Khatami wished success to "Alik" and thanked the newspaper for its service and mission. The Iranian leader concluded by congratulating the publication on its 70th anniversary.
