Armenian Church Conference Ends in Geneva

GENEVA–Over 75 international theologians–university professors–and officials from other churches took part in an international conference dedicated to the Spiritual Culture of the Armenian Apostolic Church–which opened on June 26 at Bossed Center in Geneva–Switzerland.

Speaking at the opening of the conference was His Holiness Aram I–Catholicos of the Holy See of Cilicia. Aram I emphasized the need to reinvigorate the Armenian Church on different levels.

His Beatitude Archbishop Mesrob Mutafyan–Armenian Patriarch of Istanbul and All Turkey–also spoke at the conference–stressing the need to strengthen the spiritual life of the Armenian people.

Conference participants on June 29 visited the headquarters of the World Council of Churches (WCC)–located in Geneva. The participants were addressed by Rev. Dr. Konrad Raiser (Germany)–General Secretary–Chief Executive of the WCC. Speaking on behalf of the meeting participants was Seta Khudushian–who presented an Armenian embroidery to the World Council of Churches.

The forum was organized by the Cilician Catholicosate and ran till June 30.
