Russian Georgian Negotiations Regarding The Gudauta Military Base Fails Again

Moscow (Noyan Tapan)–The Novosti News Agency reported–that according to Russian experts–the meeting held on July 17th on the issue of the Gudauta Military Base between the Russia and Georgia–was a failure on behalf of the Georgian side.

The Russian Defense Ministry representative said that no agreemen’s were made during the meeting on the discussed issues. He added that the Georgian delegation came to Moscow not to discuss the current problem–but rather–to propose its final deman’s.

The Georgian side has not yet responded to proposals of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the issue of the four military towns and the Bombara Airport of Gudauta that are to be officially given over to Georgia. It should also be noted that Russian military personnel will continue to work in the Georgian towns and airport.

"Instead–the Georgian delegation has made counter- proposals on the unsolved issues in a single document–which is unacceptable for the Russian side," concluded the Novosti Agency.
