Javakhk Armenia’s are trying to cling to their national identity and strengthen their national presence on their homeland. However–this is not an easy task to accomplish. Presently–Javakhk is facing a social-economic crisis–which results in a stable emigration to Russia where the chance for better life is more probable. Considering this situation–there is a need to discuss those issues in local press. For this purpose–the Lernashkhar union founded and publishes "Lernashkharh" an independent periodical. The editor of the newspaper and chairman of the Lernashkharh Union is Valeri Arabian. The first issue is opened with an editorial directed to the Javakhk readers–which presents a overview of periodical’s main objective.
The paper is for the simple–hard working and hospitable people of Javakhk. It will have its own ideology and will help protect human rights within the region. The paper will also advertise the economic and human resources of the region in order to attract foreign investors–create new jobs and stop the emigration–thus supporting the preservation of Armenian identity and heritage. Although the periodical has a limited volume–it is rich in materials. Besides the authorized articles it also contains Javakhk local news and literary sections.
