National Education Fund to Be Established

YEREVAN (Armenpress)–A discussion on reform issues in the educational sphere–which was initiated by the UN Development Program and the Informational Analytic Center of Economic Reforms of the government–was held in Yerevan. The results of the research of the educational problems were also presented at the discussion.

According to the head of the Informational Analytic Center of Economic Reforms Albert Ghaltakhchian–the poverty rate in Armenia has reached 55 percent who are 99 percent literate.

According to statistics–the education level of women in Armenia exceed that of the men on average. Candidate of economic sciences Ruben Eganian believes that this fact is accounted for by the change of women’s social and economic role.

Cooperator of the UN Development Program Astghik Mirzakhanian concluded that a National Education Fund is to be established soon–which will settle numerous questions concerning the sphere.
