YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–The 49th anniversary of Egypt’s Revolution–was marked on Wedensday at the Armenian Society of Cultural Ties (ASCT) in Yerevan. Attending the ceremony was Ambassador of Egypt to Armenia Bakri Rushdi El Amari.
The Revolution of July 23–1952–was not only a social revolution for Egypt. It transformed into a movement that led the country to independence–and granted it the freedom from foreign intervention.
Director of the National Picture Gallery of Armenia Shaghen Khachatrian pointed out that after the tragedy of the Armenian people in 1915–Egypt gave a considerable amount of assistance to the survivers. "If the Armenian Diaspora could survive–that country also made a great contribution to it–as Egypt as one of the stopovers in the Middle East–where our forefathers found refuge," Khachatrian said.
On behalf of the Egyptians–Ambassador Rushdi El Amari thanked the Armenia’s for remembering Egypt’s national holiday. He also pointed the Armenian community is an integral part of Egypt.
