Medical Students to Provide Medical Care to Javakhk Residents

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–A group of 20 students of the Yerevan State Medical University (YSMU) financed by the World Youth Fund arrived in Javakhk July 26 to provide disease-prevention services to the local population. The fund that has existed for nearly three years has–according to Head of the Information Department of the fund Astghik Avetissian–realized similar programs of about 130 million AMD.

Astghik Avetissian pointed out that the group representing the fund visited Javakhk a month ago and witnessed the unfavorable situation plaguing the population. Chairman of the Fund–Deputy Minister of Culture–Youth Affairs and Sport Vahram Barseghian expressed optimism at the prospect of creating a youth center in Javakhk as well.

Armen Ashotian–Chairman of the YSMU Students’ Council and head of the group of the young students that arrived in Javakhk–pointed out that similar programs have already been implemented in the liberated territories. The group conducted a public awareness campaign "Healthy Mode of Life" which was vary successful and which is to continue in other regions in September.
