Church Leaders Traveled to Gumri

YEREVAN (Armenpress)–The leader of the Armenian Church–His Holiness Catholicos Karekin II and the heads of Istanbul and Jerusalem Patriarchates Archbishops Mesrop Mutafian and Torgom Manukian traveled to Armenia’s second largest city of Gumri on July 30.

His Holiness and the two Archbishops were welcomed by Father Mikael Ajapahian–locum tenens of the head of Shirak Diocese of the Armenian Church to the headquarters of the Diocese.

The religious leaders–accompanied by the governor of Shirak province Felix Pirumian–visited the newly built Saint Jacob church in Ani. The same day the leaders went to the region of Ashotsk and visited a hospital there built by the Catholic church.

Later in that evening they returned to Byurakan–to continue their discussion on issues related to festivities devoted to 1700 Anniversary of Christianity in Armenia as well as other issues.
