YEREVAN (Armenpress)–The Armenian Church said that the head of Karabakh Diocese of the Church Archbishop Pargev Martirosian had suffered a heart attack on August 9.
A statement–issued on August 9 by the headquarters of the Armenian Church–says that the primate of the Karabakh Diocese had a heart attack during a meeting with the head of the Church Catholicos Karekin II at the latter’s summer residence in Byurakan. He was immediately transferred to hospital in Yerevan where he underwent triple by-bass surgery.
The operation is said to have gone smoothly and Archbishop Pargev is still recuperating in the hospital.
