33 AYF Members Take ARF Oath at Dro’s Grave

YEREVAN–The Armenia Revolutionary Federation youth and student organizations’ seventh Pan-Armenian Jamboree–which began in Byurakan Monday–highlighted an oath ceremony–whereby 33 new members were inducted into the ran’s of the ARF.

At noon Wednesday–Jamboree participants visited the graveside of General Dro–located at the Bashabaran and witnessed fellow members taking the ARF.

Administered by ARF Bureau member Albert Ajemian–33 novices from different regions gave their official oaths at the grave site in a solemn yet moving ceremony.

The new ARF members were welcomed into the party ran’s by Ajemian and Hrair Karapetian–the Governor of Aragatzodn province of Armenia.

As part of the educational program of the jamboree–the participants discussed topics on international social and political movemen’s as well as globalization Tuesday–with Mkrtich Mkrtchian presenting an educational the international social and political movemen’s–and Tigran Sargsian the Chairman of the Central Bank of Armenia discussing globalization.

After their committee meetings–jamboree participants visited the world famous Byurakan Observatory–where they were introduced to the scientific research carried out by local scientists.

The first issue of the Jamboree newspaper–Arakadz–was published Wednesday–while the official radio station–which began operations on the first day of the jamboree–continued to stream information and music to the campers.

In other educational topics–Giro Manoyan presented a lecture titled "The current situation of the Armenian Diaspora," while Yura Navoyan–the Director of the Diaspora department of the Ministry of Education–discussed the current situation of the Armenian communities within the former Soviet Union.

In the evening the campers hiked to the ancient Armenian castle of Amberd.
