ARF Youth Jamboree Concludes with Festival in Yerevan

YEREVAN (ARF Press Office)–The seventh Armenian Revolutionary Federation Youth and Student organization jamboree concluded Thursday–as the flags were lowered at the campsite in Byurakan.

The closing of the jamboree was also highlighted by a festival at Yerevan’s Moscow amphitheater–where participants and local residents came together to celebrate this gathering of the ARF youth from around the world.

The jamboree–which has become a tradition in Armenia–will send off its 350 participants back to their respective countries–having armed them with information and renewed commitment for the pursuit of the Armenian Cause.

Meanwhile–on the last days of the jamboree–the participants visited Lake Sevan–as well as different factories and industrial complexes throughout Armenia–where the participants witnessed the looting that has occurred in these industries throughout the last 10 years. The participants were also exposed to new businesses and factories–which have been established due to foreign investment and economic reforms.

The following day–the jamboree participants visited the Shirak region–which borders Turkey. From Shirak–all 350 participants also visited the ancient city of Ani–which can be observed from a stretch of land before reaching the Turkish border.

At the closing ceremony of the jamboree–Sako Mkrtchian–one of the jamboree directors–expressed his satisfaction about the mission and goals of the jamboree–and praised the participants–who had gathered from the four corners of the world to experience the benefits of the ARF family.

Following a cultural program–which included presentations by the jamboree participants–patriotic and revolutionary songs were performed by popular singers. The festivities continued into the early hours of the morning.

The press in Armenia provided extensive coverage to the festival and the jamboree–in general.
