YEREVAN (Armenpress)–Since water for irrigation pumped from Sevan Lake is in accordance with the laws of the government of Armenia–the level of the lake is dropping at a slower pace than before. Minister of the Environment Vartan Ayvazian told reporters–that the level of Sevan has increased by three centimeters from the beginning of the irrigation season.
He also said the government decided to transfer management responsibilities of the Lake’s ecosystem to the ministry–which means that the ministry is the only fully authorized body to decide and coordinate use of resources of Lake Sevan.
