YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Azeri political activists–assuming that the Minsk Group and the negotiating process–the Karabakh problem won’t be solved in their favor–are discussing the possibility of conducting a so-called "anti-terrorist operation" against Nagorno Karabakh–according to the Armenian Ministry of National Security.
The Armenian MNS pointed out that Azerbaijan also wants to involve Turkey in this venture. Bulent Akacala–a member of the Turkish parliament–said that it is possible that the Turkish side will participate in the military operation against Nagorno Karabakh "if Azerbaijan can prove Armenia’s involvement in the terrorist acts in Azerbaijan and Nagorno Karabakh."
The Armenian Ministry of National Security stresses that this threat to start an "anti-terrorist campaign" in Karabakh is nothing more than blackmail by Azerbaijan–intended to pressure the Armenian negotiators into making more concessions in the settlement process.
The Armenian MNS also reiterated the Azeri President’s ultimatum made to the Minsk Group–who said at the meeting with PACE Chairman Andrian Severin that "if it (the Minsk group) doesn’t assume a position based on principle" in the Karabakh conflict–Azerbaijan will begin "a war for the liberation of its occupied lands."
