MONTREAL–A number of influential Canadian-Armenian organizations have joined forces to oppose the creation and activities of the so-called "Turkish-Armenian Reconciliation Commission" and urged the Armenian members of the commission to resign.
In a statement issued late last week–signatories–the Armenian Revolutionary Federation Central Committee of Canada–the Armenian Democratic League [Ramkavar Party] of Canada–the Montreal chapter of the AGBU and the Regional Executive of the Armenian Relief Society–condemned the establishment of the commission and called on the community to "oppose the ‘reconciliation commission’s’ anti-Armenian activities."
The group urged the community to come together and deter TARC from further hindering efforts to garner international recognition of the Armenian Genocide.
"Several international government circles–such as the European Union–Germany and the US–have begun to take advantage of this situation and refrain from addressing the issue of Genocide recognition," in order to not interfere with a so-called Armenian-Turkish dialogue.
