Karabakh to Join Negotiations As Party to The Conflict

YEREVAN (Armenpress)–Deputy parliament speaker Tigran Torosian suggested that an official representative of the Republic of Karabakh should be included in all Armenian delegations that discuss the Karabakh conflict with international organizations.

Armen Rustamian–a senior parliament official from the Armenian Revolutionary Federation–said that the new global situation after the September 11 attacks visibly impacted the Karabakh peace process.

"The international community ‘s view now is that all conflicts breed terrorism and Azerbaijan is making efforts to pressure the international community to reach a "step by step" solution to the conflict," he said.

Chairman of Nagorno Karabakh parliament committee on foreign relations–Vahram Atanesian said that it was high time that Karabakh was recognized as a conflicting party. "Official Stepanakert hesitated to announce its participation in the international negotiations to keep from exasperating the current situation," he said.
