International Marathon to Be Held in Armenia

YEREVAN (Armenpress)–An International Marathon of extreme sports–entitled "Raid Karen Adventure," will be held in Armenia on January 8-17. The athletes will display race from Vanadzor to Karni. The chairman of France’s Adventure Sports Association–professor of Sorbonne University Claude Abitole initiated the marathon.

The path the runners will take will run through Armenian natural and architectural landmarks–particularly of sport and cultural importance. These places will be seen by all who watch the marathon around the world.

The competition was named after Abitole’s close friend from Vanadzor Karen Avanessian–who worked with him for many years and died recently in the Alps. The marathon was organized in memory of Karen Avanessian. The participants of the competitions must pay a corresponding membership fee to participate in the marathon.

Claude Abitole will go to Armenia in January to discuss the issues connected with the organization of these events.
