Historical Documentary Book ?Queens of The Armenia’s? Published

YEREVAN (Armenpress)–A historical-documentary book titled "Queens of the Armenia’s" by Hayk Khachatrian was published in Armenian and English with the support of the Armenian International Women’s Association.

During the early years of Armenia’s long existence as a nation–the people were ruled by kings. But history for the most part has been silent about the women who sat on the throne as royal consorts and influenced – sometimes openly–other times subtly – the course of events.

Author Hayk Khachatrian has conducted an exhaustive examination of historical sources and legends in order to compile this book containing biographical sketches of all the queens of the Armenia’s–beginning with the wife of the first sovereign–King Aram–and concluding with Queen Margarita–who ruled with King Levon VI Lusignan until the fall of the last Armenian dynasty in 1375.

In the cross sections of history–Armenian queens have always supported their husbands and participated in governing–thus helping to build prosperity and defend the country. Many Armenian queens did not simply sit on the throne and enjoy their royal privileges–but showed themselves to be great patriots–sensible and wise. They carried on their shoulders the burdens of the Armenian state and the Armenian people.

Today–Armenia has gained its independence and is building its new state foundations under the most difficult conditions–it is necessary to make use of the experience of our ancestors and involve women’s wisdom and hard work in that process.

Armenian women have demonstrated an independent mind-set and were active and creative members of society. It is not a coincidence that the Armenian goddess of wisdom is a woman–Nane. Nowadays–it is the sacred duty of our statesmen to acknowledge the power strength of the Armenian woman’s spirit–heart–hands–and mind.
