Armenia’s Win Six Awards At Moscow Olympiad

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Four Armenian schoolchildren–returned to Armenia with six awards from the International Olympiad on the Russian Language–which was held in Moscow on January 8-15. According to the public relations department of the Ministry of Education and Science–Ruben Harutyunyan–a 9th grader from Yerevan’s school N147 honorably placed third at the Olympiad and three others–Victoria Petrosyan from Yerevan (8th grader from the school N109)–Laura Tadevosyan from Gyumri (9th grader from school N14) and Seda Chobanyan from Abovyan (10th grader from school N4) were awarded prizes in different categories. The Ministry of Education and Science and the Russian Embassy in Armenia contributed to the participation of Armenian children in the Olympiad–where a total of 120 schoolchildren participated.

The Olympiad was organized upon the initiative of Lyudmila Putin–the first lady of Russia. The schoolchildren–who placed first and second–were granted the right to enter Russian language and literature faculties high schools and universities without taking exams and will receive special scholarship during their educational careers. The International Olympiad will be held every four years.
