Georgian Leader Appoints Envoy to Javakhk

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Georgia’s President Edward Shevardnadze–relieved Gligol Baramidze from his post as the plenipotentiary of the Georgian president in the Samkhtse-Javakhetsi region on Thursday.

Shevardnadze appointed Temur Mosiashvili former head of the Department of the CIS Affairs of the Georgian President’s apparatus–as the new ambassador in this region.

The Tbilisi-based Georgian Times reported that Shevardnadze has received a report regarding the issues concerning the Armenian population of Javakhk.

Those issues have also been discussed by Georgia’s National Security Council.
