ABU DHABI (Armenpress)–Concluding the official visit to United Arab Emirates–the Armenian delegation led by Armenian President Robert Kocharian left for Qatar. Kocharian met with Emir of Qatar Hamad bin Khalifa Al Tani.
The president was also scheduled to have meetings with the Successor to the Throne–the prime minister and deputy prime minister of Qatar.
On April 20 the United Arab Emirates and Armenia’signed a package of agreemen’s on trade–economic–scientific and technical cooperation between the two countries–Itar-Tass reported.
The agreemen’s will create a solid foundation for the development of bilateral relations. In particular–they call for establishing partnership ties between agro-industrial complexes of the two countries–and close interaction in such fields as transport–communications–tourism–banking–and investment projects.
The two sides also signed protocols regarding the legal basis of relations between the United Arab Emirates and Armenia.
The two countries will cooperate in the fields of culture–science–education–and the training of personnel. They also attach great significance to partnership in medicine and health care.
Kocharian also met with the local Armenian community. Armenia’s came to Qatar in 1960s from other Arabic countries and Turkey. They are mainly engaged in trade and economic–financial–banking–engineering–and building spheres. At the present–more than 100,000 Armenia’s live in Qatar.
