UN Marks 10th Anniversary of Activities in Armenia

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–The 10th anniversary of UN presence in Armenia was marked at the Armenian Government House of Receptions April 30.

UN Armenia Office Resident Representative Joel Boutroue–hailing participants–said that during the last decade the UN realized different programs in Armenia–a considerable part of which still continue. Boutroue–expressing gratitude to the Armenian authorities for versatile cooperation–stressed that Armenia has already overcome a number of problems available in the countries of the transition period and stood in the way of development–in connection with which Armenia’s cooperation with the UN has qualitatively new characteristics.

Armenian Foreign Minister Vardan Oskanian stressed in his response speech the effectiveness of programs realized by UN in Armenia. National Assembly Chairman Armen Khachatrian–members of the government–foreign diplomats accredited to Armenia–and public figures participated in the arrangement.
