Karabakh Prepares for Presidential Elections

STEPANAKERT (Noyan Tapan)–Preparations for the presidential elections in Nagorno Karabakh scheduled for August 11 are in full swing. The latest sitting of the Karabakh Central Electoral Commission discussed a range of issues relating to the distribution of duties among the CEC members and financial expenses.

Voter registers are also being presently verified in connection with the elections. Numerous inaccuracies connected with the current lists of voters have already been exposed and redressed as a result of the inspection.

Head of the ARF Karabakh Parliamentary faction Vahram Balayan said. the Armenian Revolutionary Federation will take an active part in the presidential elections.

Commenting on the incident during discussions of the bill on amendmen’s to the law on ballot papers–Balayan said that various marks exert psychological pressure on voters–who vote fixing a previously arranged mark on the paper. According to the head of the faction–both the observers and society will make sure that the elected president has positively received the vote of confidence of the people.
