International Festival of Armenian Books Scheduled

YEREVAN (Armenpress)–An international festival of the Armenian book devoted to the 70th anniversary of the blessed memory of the Armenian Catholicos Karekin I–will open June 23 at Yerevan Charles Aznavour Square. The festival is being organized by the ministry of culture of Armenia–Yerevan City Hall–National Library–Armenian Writers’ Union and National Association of Publishers.

More than 60 publishers from Armenia and Diaspora will be taking part in the festival–presenting the books they published over the last years.

The member of the organizing committee of the festival–head of the Hayastan publishing-house Vahagn Sarkisian said that the festival aims to restore good relations with Armenian readers–which are of invaluable importance to the nation. The festival is especially devoted to Catholicos Karekin I–as he brought his greatest contribution to publishing–spreading and protecting Armenian books in Armenia and Diaspora.
