Kocharian Tells Ministers Not to Interfere in Business

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–"The creation of equal conditions for business should be a priority task for us all," stated President Robert Kocharian at the June 11 meeting with the ministers of national security–trade and economic development–finances and economy–state incomes–Prosecutor General–state customs committee chairman–as well as persons of other departmen’s concerned.

According to the president–recently there have been signals from businessmen about cases of groundless and illegal interference with their business. Considering the businessman protection as a guarantee of the country’s stable economic development–Kocharian severely condemned such phenomena–saying that the problem will constantly be the main object of his attention. In his words–any department heads under whose control there is an illegally and groundlessly hindering structure as regards businessmen’s activities will be charged.

Touching upon the situation created in the home market in which various smuggled goods penetrate past the state budget as a consequence of lack of necessary control of responsible bodies–Kocharian stated that a similar situation could not emerge provided the corresponding responsible structures did not somehow allow it. In his words–the department of standardization–metrology and certification attached to the government–does not ensure sufficient control so that foul goods do not penetrate the home market.

According to the information–provided by the president’s press service–to correct the created situation–the president ordered the heads of corresponding departmen’s to take serious measures and–in a short period–to eliminate the elicited shortcomings–and the Presidential service of control should realize permanent control over the issues discussed at the meeting.
