Grenade Explosion at Ghalatia Church

According to a "Marmara" news report–a grenade exploded at the entrance of the St. Gregory the Illuminator Church of Ghalatia (Istanbul) on Saturday–June 22 at 10:00 p.m. A police investigation began immediately after the explosion.

In addition to shattered glass–the main doors of the church were damaged. Church night watch–Nourhan Tasheopriv–notified church committee members Mgrditch Ardzivian–Vartavar Javak and Minas Kapousouz–who provided investigators with information.

The committee members also informed the Patriarchate about the incident. The "A.Te.Ve." television station reported the bombing and the police investigation on Sunday afternoon.
