Armenian Catholicos Meets With Bulgarian President

SOFIA (Armenpress)–The head of the Armenian Apostolic Church Catholicos Karekin II–who is currently on a six-day visit to Bulgaria at the invitation of the Orthodox Church and the local Armenian community–met on Wednesday with the country’s President Georgi Pirvanov and parliament Chairman Ognian Gejikov.

Karekin II said the friendship of Armenia’s and Bulgarians is based on deep roots and is notable by its "fraternity and love." He expressed hope that relations between Sofia and Yerevan will become stronger and more productive.

Catholicos Karekin II and Bulgarian Patriarch Maxim have described the visit as "a proof of ecumenical relations between the two Churches."
