French Mayor Calls for International Recognition

YEREVAN (Armenpress)–Issi-le-Moulinaux is a French city with a population of 54,000–5,000 of which are Armenian.

The mayor of Issi-le-Moulinaux Andre Santini told a press conference in Yerevan that he is proud of the fact that France was the first country to adopt legislation condemning the Armenian Genocide.

He stressed that it is time for all the developed countries to take this step.

Santini has been the mayor of Isi-le-Moulinaux for 22 years. This was his third visit to Armenia.

Mr. Santini spoke about his contribution in the French Parliament’s recognition of the Armenian Genocide–stressing his relationship with French senators and the President of France Jacque Chirac as key elemen’s in his ability to influence its passage.
