5 000 Protest Russian Base Closure in Akhalkalak

TBILISI (Armenpress)–Concerned about security issues resulting from the scheduled removal of the Russian military base in Akhalkalak–5000 protesters gathered to call on presidents of Armenia–Georgia and Russia to reconsider the closure of the Russian military base there.

One of the organizers of the rally–who also the co-chair of the Virq party–David Rstakian stated that the removal of the base would not only create grave security issues–but also socio-economic problems for the majority Armenian population.
